Cisgenia, oil on canvas, 48" x 48" by Robert Egert, painted in 2017 part of the series, Great PlainsCIsgenia, Oil and pigmented glue on canvas, 48″ x 48″, 2017

Cisgenesis is a type of genetic engineering used to design plants as agriproducts. It’s a form of genetically modified organism that is being marketed without using the term GMO.

Cisgenic plants have been modified using genes sourced from the same species vs truly genetically modified organisms which use source genes from distant unrelated or sexually incompatible species.
